GREAT PLAINS NO-TILL GRASS DRILL
The Marshall County SWCD services are offered on a non-discriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status or handicap.
The no-till drill will seed a 6 foot width with the rows 7.5 inches apart and can be used to seed:
WARM SEASON GRASS - big blue stem, little blue stem, etc;
COOL SEASON GRASS - orchard grass, timothy, etc; and
SMALL SEED - alfalfa and clover
RENTAL FEES: $50 for use of drill, plus $7 an acre for
noncommercial production; $1 an acre discount if
paid within 10 days of billing
This equipment was purchased by the Marshall County SWCD to assist landowners and operators in establishing small acreage for wildlife habitat, hay seeding, or conservation cover. It was purchased with Clean Water Indiana funds as well as SWCD funds. All programs and services of the Marshall
INSTRUCTIONS:
Use a 40 horse (minimum) tractor with an external hydraulic
Operate at a ground speed of 4-6 mph
Raise openers out of the ground before backing up or turning
Start moving forward before lowering openers
Turn feed shaft BY HAND before adding seed if drill has been standing for a long period of time. If treated seed is used, turn shaft whenever drill has been standing for an hour or longer.
Normal wear and tear will be the responsibility of the District. Damage due to negligence, abuse, or failure to follow instruction WILL BE the responsibility of the user. The District WILL NOT be responsible or be held liable for accidents when the drill is in your care, custody, and control.. All damages or accidents will be reported to the District office within one business day.
INSURANCE – The SWCD insurance covers transporting of the drill. Renter will be responsible for damage to the drill during operation and the $1,000 deductible on the insurance policy.
Supervisors/Staff have the right to inspect the equipment at any time while under the renter’s possession. The District reserves the right to terminate this agreement at any time and require the return of the district equipment.
This agreement is to be signed and returned to the District PRIOR to use. The District may send a representative to assess drill condition after each use. IMPORTANT - Do not allow anyone to take possession of the drill until it has been cleared through the office personnel. Damages resulting from such unauthorized use will be the responsibility of the previous renter.
