ENERGY CONSERVATION FIELD DAY – “SAVING SOIL, TOIL AND OIL”

 

WHO – Fulton County SWCD in cooperation with Fulton County Extension Service, Marshall County SWCD, and the Arrow Head Country RC&D, New Holland-Rochester – Rochester, and Indiana Corn

 

WHAT – In field comparisons of no-till, strip-till and conventionally tilled corn production

 

WHEN – August 21, 2008,  4:30 – 8:30 PM

 

WHERE – 800E – 1.5 miles south of Indiana Highway 14 – Fulton County

 

 

The Marshall County SWCD will build on this summer event by hosting a Winter Meeting in Marshall County to provide the results from the strip-till and no-till plots demonstrated in Fulton County at the August field day.  This meeting will also include expert speakers talking about conservation tillage particularly no-till and strip-till as a successful alternative to convention tillage.  Speakers will also cover fertilizer and pest management for conservation tillage.  A representative of the BMP Challenge Program will talk about how the challenge program works.  An Arrow Head RC&D representative will discuss providing the assistance of a crop consultant at no charge to farmers in the Tippecanoe Watershed via financial support offered by TNC.  Representatives from the Indiana Corn Marketing Council will give a presentation/report.
